Area 47 is Located in Ghadames Basin, approximately 230 kilometers from Tripoli in the South-West direction. The area lies between two major pipelines system, ENI operated system to the West and AGOCO operated system to the East area. It is surrounded by Silurian and Devonian oil discoveries and is analogous to the Adam producing concession in Southern Tunisia.

The area has been divided into 4 blocks as shown in the below map with more than ten (10) structures had been proved through exploration wells. The productive structures are mostly located in block -2 and block -4.

The development plan will cover only block2 of Area 47, in particular  the six structures namely; Structure A+L, D, F, B, C and J with most of oil production zone target at Lower Acacus formation. Full scale development plan had been generated with total oil production at 50,000 BOPD.

The six proven structures already have commercial status through final appraisal report (FAR) document. Those structures have been engaged in field development plan (FDP) and granted to deliver hydrocarbon from North Hamada field, Area-47. Those developed field have been penetrated Acacus formation thru 13 existing wells with Lower Acacus as the main reservoir zone.

Due to security concern and political issue in Libya which affected field operations, the full-scale development plan is suspended, and a fast track development has been decided.

The fast track development project is only focused on Sand-1 production of Lower Acacus formation in AL, F and J, structures due to short term period. The B, C and D structures are not included because those structures have high GOR and lower reservoir deliverability than AL, F and J structures. On the other hand, the production oil target of this plan could be fulfilled by AL and F & J structures are contingency.

Hence, the fast track development project will be supported through five (5) existing oil wells (A1-47/02, A4-47/02, L1-47/02 & contingency F1-47/02 and J1-47/02) , one (1) to be converted into water injector (A3-47/02) and (1) into gas injection (A2-47/0)2,  The production facilities plant will be constructed in Area-02 of North Hamada field and to be designed to handle up to 25 Mstb/day. The oil production plateau during the first three years 10 Mstb/day followed by 25 Mstb/day after drilling infill wells in the structure A-L.
