Health, Safety and Environment Policy Statement

Over and above its legal responsibilities, Nafusah Oil Operations B.V (NOO) has a primary and continuing commitment to protect the health, safety and welfare of all its employees and all personnel affected by and involved in its activities, and minimize the impact of its activities on the environment.

This commitment is reflected in NOOs Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management Plan, implemented at all NOO’s facilities and at all stages of development and operating, which requires:

  • The development and updating of HSE standards, which, as a minimum, comply with relevant regulatory requirements and which recognise the importance of environmental resources found in our activity areas.
  • The assignment of accountability for HSE matters to each Line Manager. It is their responsibility to develop and implement controls and programs for their own areas to comply with NOO standards and provide relevant staff training.
  • The commitment of each NOO employee to safe and environmentally identify trends new conscious working practice. It is the employee’s responsibility to learn from the relevant training selected by management, to comply with all procedures and to participate in accident prevention measures.
  • Ensuring that the Management of Change (MoC) system applies to changes and deviations in NOO processes, including changes made to organisation, systems, equipment, procedures, personnel, — and ensuring that HSE risks are managed properly to reduce risk to personnel and equipment.
  • The obligation for all employees to report all accidents and incidents and the need for management to investigate such events and put in place measures to prevent their recurrence.
  • The encouragement of employee to bring proposals for potential HSE improvements to the attention of NOO and the provision of means for these to be considered.
  • The obligation of contractors to apply relevant HSE measure and to adopt safe and environmentally sound working practices.
  • The use of audits and inspections to confirm that HSE standards are being applied and to measure their effectiveness.
  • The development and update of emergency plans and procedures to respond efficiently to incidents, this minimizing their impact on NOO and others.
  • The monitoring of NOO’s HSE performance. This allows HSE achievements to be quantified and trends identified.
